How do I apply for graduation?
The College of Communication and Information requires the submission of TWO Application of Graduation forms to the Office of Academic Services, located in 202C Taylor Hall. You can obtain the forms from either the IAKM office or the Office of Academic Services. Completed forms must be returned to the Office of Academic Services.

 

When do I apply for graduation?
Graduation applications are due by the end of the first week of the semester during which you expect to graduate.

 

What GPA and grade level requirements are there for graduation?
Students must maintain a 3.0 average in all coursework at Kent State University . A student who earns a combination of more than 7 hours of “C” (2.0) average coursework or more than 4 hours of “D” (1.0) average coursework or below is subject to dismissal. In addition, in order to qualify for graduation , a 3.0 average must be maintained for all graduate coursework. Grades below a “C” (2.0) are not counted toward completion of requirements for the degree, but are counted in determining a student's grade point average.

 

When will I get my diploma?
Diplomas will be mailed to your home address by the Office of the Registrar six to eight weeks following graduation. If you have changed your address, you should notify both the Office of the Registrar and the Office of Academic Services.

 

How can I get academic transcripts?
Copies of academic transcripts are available free of charge by requesting them in one of the following ways:

• Go to the Office of the University Registrar Service Counter, Room 108, Michael Schwartz Center , with a photo I.D.

• Mail a request to Kent State University, Office of the University Registrar, P.O. Box 5190, Kent, OH 44242-0001, including current name and address, any former name(s), student ID number, dates of attendance, campus(es) attended, the address(es) where the transcripts are to be mailed and your written signature.

• Faxing a request to 330-672-3867, including current name and address, any former name(s), student ID number, dates of attendance, campus(es) attended, the address(es) where the transcripts are to be mailed and your written signature.

• Access Web for Students at www.wfs.kent.edu or http://flashline.kent.edu and log in to Student Services. Under Submit Requests For , click Official Academic Transcript to access the Transcript Request Form .

Upon receipt, transcripts will be processed and mailed within two business days. Extra processing time may be needed at the beginning and ending of each semester.

Kent State University has set up a Commencement Web Page with up-to-date information about graduation, including the Imagine Graduation Fair, ceremony dates, University graduation requirements and frequently asked questions regarding the commencement ceremony.
