About World
Usability Day
World Usability Day was founded in 2005 as an initiative of the Usability
Professionals' Association to ensure that services and products important to
human life are easier to access and simpler to use. Each year, on the second
Thursday of November, events are organized around the world to raise awareness
for the general public, and to train professionals in the tools and issues
central to good usability research, development and practice. More than 40,000
people in 180 cities in 43+ countries participated in World Usability Day 2008.
The global World Usability Day theme for 2009 is, “Designing for a Sustainable
World.”
About NEOUPA
Located in Cleveland, Ohio, NEOUPA is the official Northeast Ohio chapter of
the international Usability Professionals' Association. NEOUPA provides monthly
events throughout the year on various topics related to usability for
individuals interested in, involved in or responsible for Web sites,
applications, software or any other type of user interface.
“Usability, or the act of making a product or system easy to use for the
people who intend to use it, is essential to good design. According to Nielsen
Norman Group, usability metrics can be expected to increase by 174% when
launching a redesigned Web site based on a good usability process,” says
Cathleen Zapata, President of NEOUPA and Vice President of Research and Customer
Experience at Metrics Marketing Group.
“At NEOUPA, it is our job to educate, motivate and promote usability in
Northeast Ohio, and we’re proud to be part of the largest and most trusted
entity promoting usability in the World.”
